For many years now the most common and popular lawnmower engine found on most budget lawnmowers was the Briggs & Stratton Classic / Sprint or 450 Series model engine. As these older models were a side valve engine and have now been replaced with overhead valve engine for a more efficient and powerful engine. The latest model from Briggs & Stratton, which is the 550EX Series engine is the latest direct replacement for these older models. This new series engine has the same mounting pattern as the previous models, and is available with different shaft options to suit different brand lawnmowers. The 550ex Series Briggs & Stratton Engine is lightweight yet heavy on power, with the best in class torque to weight ratio. This model features reduced vibration, quieter operation, super lo tone muffler and hassle free ready to start engine.
